A limited edition work, limited to 1825, of which 1 to 900 were for sale in Great Britain, numbers 901 to 1800 were for sale in America, and numbers 1801 to 1825 were for presentation. This volume was numbered 312.

Held in the original publisher's slipcase, slipcase in a very good condition.

'Aphrodite in Aulis' was George Moore's last novel. The novel revolves around an ancient Greek family who moves to Aulis, where statues of Aphrodite come to life.

Written by George Moore. Moore was an Irish novelist who was best known for being a naturalist writer. He was one of the first English-language writers to incorporate the French realist inspirations into his work, especially Emile Zola.


CONDITION

In the original publisher's vellum binding with the original slipcase and a brodart wrap. Externally, smart. Light discolouration to the boards and spine, common with the light colour of vellum. Slipcase with light marks, and a little bumping to the spine, with a split to the head of the slipcase. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just a small mark to the title page.
