Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a large Wave Crest Art Glass dresser box in the Helmschmeid Swirl mold by the C. F. Monroe Co.,  c. 1900. The box features a soft pale yellow background with a beautifully enameled floral design in shades of pink with white berries floating across the top. The flowers have white highlights and jeweled stamens. The top and base have decorative brass bands with a tight hinge and the box opens and closes correctly. The original lining remains in the top of the box and is in good, clean condition although it has been removed from the base.

Measures 7" in diameter and 4" high. Weighs 2.4 pounds.

Wave Crest glass was produced as an opal glass blank and was then hand decorated.  Originally called "Opal Ware", this glass was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910. Much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mt. Washington Glass Co. and was purchased by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by their artists.

This nice box is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The background color is not faded nor is the paint worn.  There is minor tarnish on the brass areas from normal wear.  Although unmarked, we guarantee this box to be Wave Crest. There is an old paper label on the bottom that can easily be removed if desired.
