UK Terraforming Mars Board Game x7 Project & Corporation Promo Cards Set Sci Fi. Original game designed by Jacob Fryxelius with artwork by Isaac Fryxelius.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE ARE ACCESSORIES FOR THE GAME, SO YOU WILL NEED THE BASE GAME MAIN BOX SET TO BE ABLE TO USE THESE PROMO CARDS. 

These are all in excellent condition and are a set of seven original promo cards for the brilliant Terraforming Mars (TFM) science fiction game. These are guaranteed original Terraforming Mars board game accessories. Some of these cards in the promo pack are more useful than others, but all of them add something to the game. Personally I think the Self Replicating Robots is an absolutely excellent card for the game and really adds something to playing it. These cards are printed in English. There are seven cards in the set, and you will receive four Project cards:

Penguins
Self-Replicating Robots
Small Asteroid
Snow Algae

There are also three Corporation cards:

Arcadian Communities
Recyclon
Splice

Some of the above cards can cause misunderstandings and have various rules queries that come up. So regards:

Self-Replicating Robots (SRR). The rules can be misconstrued easily, making it a stunningly powerful card (it is pretty good as is!). The rules as I understand them are that when you use the card, you have two options (one option per generation like all other blue cards with actions):

1. Reveal a SPACE or BUILDING card, put two resource cubes on it. (take card from hand, place partly under the SRR card and put 2 generic progress resource cubes on the chosen card). 

2. DOUBLE the number of generic resource cubes on a card you revealed earlier. (You may have multiple cards under the SRR card)

When you want to pay the cost to play one of these cards, you can do that, as if the card was in your hand. The price is reduced by the number of replicated generic progress resource cubes on the card. You pay the rest / balance as normal (The cost cannot be below zero). 

There can be several cards with the SRR. Each of those cards have their own generic progress resource cubes. These resources are of no particular type, they are only a measure of how much the robots have progressed the project. 

Cards on SRR are not in hand or in play either. Thus they don't count for other purposes, such as the Planner milestone or Excentric award.

Viron can use SRR an extra time each generation if that's the action you choose for Viron.

CEO's Favorite Project can be played to add one resource to a card on SRR, because it doesn't specify that the card has to be in play, only that it has resources on it.

Terraforming Mars really is a great game that is very cleverly designed, it plays well and retains interest. Players will need strategy, tactics and logic to win. It is a resources card game, but tiles are also used and player boards are there to keep track of the changing in game resources. The playing time is said to be 120 minutes, but I would say that was average to minimal time needed to play, as I've played two player games that took near 6 hours to finish. A better understanding of the rules lowers this, plus I'd feel that more players would reduce the time involved overall, as many actions reduce game length. it all depends on the cards that are drawn, and how the players play, as different tactics can pay dividends. Each player is in control of a competing corporation that is trying to tame the red planet. They each race to obtain awards and reach milestones before the other players.

  • This game is ranked number 4 in the BoardGameGeek top games of all time rankings. To put that into perspective, that list has 17063 different games in it, so to come number 4 really is an achievement. Terraforming Mars has been repeatedly nominated and is a Multi-award winning board game. Some of those nominations and awards are as follows:

  • Terraforming Mars is a board game for 1 to 5 players and was designed by Jacob Fryxelius. It was initially published by FryxGames in 2016, and later by 12 others, including Stronghold Games. It is an economic, environmental, industry / manufacturing, Science Fiction, Space Exploration, Territory Building game. 
  • The Terraforming Mars game is set in the science fiction future of the 2400's. Players in Terraforming Mars take on the role of giant competing corporations. They have been sponsored by the World Government on Earth to terraform the Red planet by raising the temperature and creating oxygen, water, plant and animal life, for habitation. Mars is represented by a board made up of 61 contiguous hexes (there are two others out in spac, Phobos and Ganymede) onto which can be placed oceans, plants, cities, and other features. Players compete with each other to earn the most victory points (VP's). These are counted up at the end of the game to dictate the winner and add up on various factors in the game by player contribution to the terraforming process, as well as building human infrastructure on the Red planet.
  • In the game players collect income and resources which allow them to buy to their hand and play different project cards. These cards can represent various technologies, amongst others, infrastructure built, scientific accomplishments or localised events. So anything from introducing plant life or animals, hurling asteroids at the surface, building cities, to mining the moons of Jupiter and establishing greenhouse gas industries to heat up the atmosphere. The cards can give you immediate bonuses, as well as increasing your production of different resources. Many cards also have requirements and they become playable when the temperature, oxygen, or ocean coverage increases enough. Buying cards is costly, so there is a balance between buying cards (3 megacredits per card) and actually playing them (which can cost anything between 0 to 41 megacredits, depending on the project). Standard Projects are always available to complement your cards. The cards played can then increase the players income, resources or directly contribute to terraforming the Red planet. Your basic income, as well as your basic score, is based on your Terraform Rating (starting at 20), which increases every time you raise one of the three global parameters. However, your income is complemented with your production, and you also get VPs from many other sources.Capitalism at its best!
  • Each player keeps track of their production and resources on their player boards, and the game uses six types of resources: MegaCredits, Steel, Titanium, Plants, Energy, and Heat. On the game board, you compete for the best places for your city tiles, ocean tiles, and greenery tiles. You also compete for different Milestones and Awards worth many VPs. The game automatically ends when three terraforming conditions have all been met: 
  • 1, the atmosphere's oxygen level has been raised to 14%
  • 2, the temperature has risen to 8 degrees Celsius 
  • 3, nine ocean tiles have been placed.
  • There have been five very good expansions released for this excellent game, Hellas and Elysium (2017), Venus Next (2017), Prelude (2018), Colonies (2018), and Turmoil (2019).

There may be residual paint on it, all miniatures have been washed to remove any residual chemical paint stripper, but I advise washing in soapy water with a toothbrush prior to painting, due to handling.
