I have been devising plots for skirmish wargames with role-play character for over twenty years, ranging from ancient to colonial.

The plots are usually based on a true historical event and personalities (some real and some ficticious), but with a good sense of humour and some imagination to produce an enjoyable game.

Most games come along with clear objectives/rules for the opponents and a point system to determine victory within a set timeframe. Usually around 50 figures, a small table and 2-3 hours will be sufficient.

Now available on EBAY is the full collection of 33 skirmish and battle wargames developed and played over the last twenty years (see the full list of all wargames below).

Perhaps this may have attracted your interest. You will promptly receive access to over 100 pages of documents.

Short Description of the first six wargames:

Skirmish Wargame No.1 - "Dispute over Föhring Toll Bridge 1158"

This plot is set in medieval Bavaria and revolves around the conflict between Henry the Lion (Heinrich der Löwe) and his cousin the Bishop of Freising concerning the toll bridge of Föhring. The opponents will attempt to use their resources to contract mercenaries with the goal to either defend or eliminate the bridge which is the only passage across the Isar river for precious salt transports. Who will prevail...?

Skirmish Wargame No.2 - "Canton Opium Confiscation 1839"

This game is inspired by the true events on Lintin Island in Canton Bay on 26th March 1839, marking the start of the 1st Opium War and centres around three British and three Chinese characters with their respective subordinates/followers. Although only three of the six main characters involved were real personalities of this age, the other three purely ficticious ones, are nevertheless fitting and credible for this early Victorian/Colonial period. Everyone of them wants to achieve his own mischievous opportunistic goals on this particular day. Each player will secretly pick one of the characters and try to achieve the set goals and gain a maximum of points by the end of 10 moves.

Skirmish Wargame No.3 - "After Khartoum" Sudan Campaign Colonial

This game is set in Sudan after the fall of Khartoum 1885. Mahdism is in the zenith of its power. Due to successful Dervish raids made north of Wady Halfa, there is a risk that the infection of fanaticism might spread to the confines of Lower Egypt, if not to Cairo itself. On the morning of 7th April 1897, Lord Herbert Kitchener, Commander of the Anglo-Egyptian Army in Cairo, receives an urgent dispatch. A massive secret weapons transport is on the way to a Sudanese port to reinforce the Dervish forces. This has to be prevented by all means to avoid a large-scale revolt. An undercover skirmish attack by handpicked troops is the only possibility....

There are six ficticious characters in this plot including a lieutenant of the Camel Regt., captains of the 24th and Marines, a major of the 60th Rifle as well as the captain of a smuggling ship and an agent provocateur of the Kaiser. There are 12 different cards with secret orders (for personal benefit or revenge) and each player will pick one and collect points to win the game after 10 moves.

Skirmish Wargame No.4 - "The Druids Strike Again" Ancient Roman

The plot of this game: Rome had been weakened by civil war for a number of years. It is only now in the late spring of A.D. 193 that Lucius Septimius Severus emerges as victor from the civil war and assumes complete control of the Roman Empire. However, marauding northern British tribesmen have taken advantage of the disorder caused by the civil war and severely damage Hadrian´s Wall. Severus receives reports about pillaging and unrest as well as the name of the responsible chieftain concerning the damage to the Wall. Cadwallon, chieftain of the Caledones tribe, who has been encouraging others within the Roman pale to resist occupation. But above all Severus is disturbed by the note that druids seem to be in the entourage of Cadwallon. Severus needs to extensively repair the Wall and restore law and order and hinder the revival of the druid cult without delay.

There are six ficticious characters in this game including King Cadwallon, the Roman Centurion Maximus of the 20th Legion, the mischievious Tribune Balbinus and further personalities from the Creones and Venicones tribes of northern Britain. Not to forget the three druids and the mysterious secret weapon "The Potion of Vigor"... The game is designed for 2-3 players who will pick their character and collect points by fulfilling their goals to win the game after 10 moves.

Skirmish Wargame No.5 - "Warrior Monks on the Loose" Samurai 1600

The plot of this game:

After the bloody battle of Sekigahara in 1600 the emperor conferred the title of Shogun on the victor Ieyasu, chief of the Tokugawa clan. The new Shogun demanded absolute obedience from his followers and tolerated no opposition from other clans. This asked for further trouble as the proud Toyotomi Clan based at the fortress of Osaka would not accept this.

Foreign influences played a decisive role in provoking an escalation between the two clans. Toyotomi was supported by the Portuguese Jesuits with new firearms and opium from Europe and India respectively. In return Toyotomi, an opium addict, agreed to eliminate the Dutch trade post which was located in a fortified tower close to the summer residence of the Tokugawa clan at Okehazama. The Portuguese considered the Dutch as their greatest rivals and envied them for their influential position with the Shogun.

The game is designed for 2 players who will take the role of either the Warrior Monks to destroy the Dutch trade post or the Tokugawa clan to defend the position. Objectives must be achieved to collect points and win the game after 10 moves.

Skirmish Wargame No.6 - "Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth" Medieval

This plot is set in the final phase of the Battle of Bosworth on 22nd August 1485.

The aim of this skirmish wargame is not to simulate the whole Battle of Bosworth , but to concentrate on the final and decisive scene. This is Richard´s encounter with Henry Tudor, after charging across the battlefield with his household troops to overcome his opponent. However, the outcome of the game may be different than what happened on 22nd August 1485, as an element of unpredictable treachery will have a strong influence. It is important to remember that already prior to the battle a number of personalities had changed sides or were still even undecided during the course of the battle. This leaves a lot of room for speculation what could have happened if for example the Stanleys hadn´t intervened to help Henry, or the Earl of Northumberland had joined the battle or Sir Gilbert Talbot might have decided to return to the side of his former master. The use of a series of personality and chance cards will create a lot of suspense in this medieval skirmish game.
