These knives were inherited by a friend of mine.  The mfg. is Daniel Low & Co which came into existence in the 1880s and closed in 1994.  Bakelite was the main form of plastic from the 1930s - 1950s.  They were appraised in Jan 1992 for $200.00.  Yellow bakelite handles with sterling silver bands.
