This listing is for a stunning example of a 19th Century American Sterling Silver small bowl or wine bottle coaster made by Black, Starr & Frost of New York. This elaborately decorated coaster features six decorative chased floral designs with swags and the pierced decorative edge. No monograms. Marked with the trademark stamp of Black, Starr & Frost and also "Black, Starr & Frost, Sterling, 3005". The Black, Starr & Frost Company was formed in 1874 and continued to use this name until 1929. They produced silver products for many of America's most prominent families during this period and their pieces are of the highest quality. 

 Measures 1 1/4" high and 7" in diameter. Weighs 145 grams.  The piece is solid silver and is not weighted in any area. 

 This fabulous silver compote is in very good Estate condition with no major flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear. There is some slight denting on the raised sides around the center bottom and a few faint tarnish specks in the bottom. Please view all photos. This nice coaster is an example of late 19th Century American silver at its finest.
