Sorry, but I don't take offers on the price. Please don't contact me asking to buy items cheaper than shown, because if I start to, then I'll be inundated with different people E-Mailing me, which it's nice to chat, but I'd never get anything done. Not that I'm big business, it's just me in the back room. I do not sell fakes/copies. I wouldn't want to be ripped off myself, and wouldn't rip off others. I've been in contact with Games Workshop in the past, for their advice over this, I will report people who do, and will continue to do so. Fakes are theft. People who do so are stealing, and make peoples collections worthless. If you see it, report it.

COMBINED POSTAGE OFFERED: Please use the basket and then request the combined invoice that will save you money. UK Terraforming Mars Dual Layer Player Board x1 Kickstarter Promo Game Accessory. Original game designed by Jacob Fryxelius with artwork by Isaac Fryxelius.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE ARE ACCESSORIES FOR THE GAME, SO YOU WILL NEED THE BASE GAME MAIN BOX SET TO BE ABLE TO USE THESE PLAYER BOARDS.

THIS ITEM HAS A MULTI-BUY OFFER, THUS IT IS CHEAPER TO BUY MORE THAN ONE BOARD. IF YOU ARE NOT IN THE UK, YOU NEED TO USE THE .CO.UK E-BAY SITE TO BUY, NOT .COM OR OTHER (click the shop link above), AND THEY WILL THEN BE CHEAPER!

In excellent condition this is a player board for the brilliant Terraforming Mars (TFM) science fiction game. Each original game board, endorsed by Fryxgames, is 220mm x 160mm x 3.2mm (the ones that originally come with the game are approximately 220mm x 160mm). These are guaranteed original Terraforming Mars board game accessories, and are referred to as Dual layer boards, so the top layer has been punched out to leave spaces for the production parameter cubes and resource cubes to be placed. This means that they have a lip to stop the pieces moving during the game. The lip is half the boards thickness, so approximately 1.6mm depth. The original player mats that come with the game are notorious for the pieces moving, as they were just thin card. The pieces are just placed on the thin card, and are easily brushed off by shirt sleeves, or slide with even slight board movement. Any movement of pieces during the game, ruins it as you have to have the specific production values in the game adhered to, and remembering what they were, along with other actions, is just too hard.

I personally went out and bought a set of five cut plastic sheets that overlay onto the original player board. These organisers were very expensive! You can buy these overlays in various plastics, acrylic, methacrylate or polycarbonate, and also wood type boards made out of Medium-Density Fibreboard (MDF). Also, if you do go that way, and prefer the compatible acrylic sheets, then please ensure you get four factors for your money.

1, Make sure you buy acrylic overlay sheets that have been laser cut. The laser cut ones will likely cost more, pay the extra! I bought ones that had been cut using a router, which left a burr around every single cut edge. There's a lot of cut edges and I then had to remove these burrs on both sides by scraping with a craft knife. This process took absolutely ages! I was there doing it for hours, and ended up scratching the surface a few times, plus also I cut myself twice. Good advice is to ask the seller prior to purchase, as I could not see the issue from the sellers pictures.

2, Some cut sheets, and a fair few laser cut wooden boards as well, do not have individual grooves for the resource cubes. Basically they slide up and down above the numbers. This means that any knock on the board, dropping something on the board as you are playing, or as you reach over to spend or add resource cubes to the board, will move the pieces. It is a key factor of the game that you know what are the correct amounts.

3, Make sure you get five boards for your money. Some of these boards are really costly, costing nearly as much as the game itself!

4, The sheets are cut uniform, some are not and do not overlay the numbers as well. Also, and you want to check this prior to purchase. I read that the early Terraforming Mars player boards were printed slightly different. I think you'll find that there is a different image on the earlier print run of game boards. This 'could' mean that the cut sheets do not overlay as well if you have a different print of board. Ensure that your boards match the ones that the sellers show on their sales page just in case.

If you do go with Terraforming Mars compatible acrylic overlay sheets, to organise your gaming pieces, attach the overlays to the card by using small pieces of Blu-Tac.

The card player boards that I sell here, if jogged will keep the game pieces in place, but as I say, the lip is 1.6mm, so work well, unless you are really trying your best to cause issues. The resource cubes can be easily picked up and replaced back on the board when they need to be moved. If the table is needed as it is dinner time, then the boards can easily be lifted up and moved as they do not flex. The original game boards suffer from the flexing issue, as they are pretty much paper thin and were a cause of consternation amongst a few gamers due to it. These player boards also have spaces to add cubes to signify 10 and 20 production. If you go higher than that, and it can happen, then it becomes a balancing act, and you can put a further cube on top signalling two lots of 10.

Terraforming Mars really is a great game that is very cleverly designed, it plays well and retains interest. Players will need strategy, tactics and logic to win. It is a resources card game, but tiles are also used and player boards are there to keep track of the changing in game resources. The playing time is said to be 120 minutes, but I would say that was average to minimal time needed to play, as I've played two player games that took near 6 hours to finish. A better understanding of the rules lowers this, plus I'd feel that more players would reduce the time involved overall, as many actions reduce game length. it all depends on the cards that are drawn, and how the players play, as different tactics can pay dividends. Each player is in control of a competing corporation that is trying to tame the red planet. They each race to obtain awards and reach milestones before the other players.

  • Terraforming Mars is a board game for 1 to 5 players and was designed by Jacob Fryxelius. It was initially published by FryxGames in 2016, and later by 12 others, including Stronghold Games. It is an economic, environmental, industry / manufacturing, Science Fiction, Space Exploration, Territory Building game.
  • The Terraforming Mars game is set in the science fiction future of the 2400's. Players in Terraforming Mars take on the role of giant competing corporations. They have been sponsored by the World Government on Earth to terraform the Red planet by raising the temperature and creating oxygen, water, plant and animal life, for habitation. Mars is represented by a board made up of 61 contiguous hexes (there are two others out in spac, Phobos and Ganymede) onto which can be placed oceans, plants, cities, and other features. Players compete with each other to earn the most victory points (VP's). These are counted up at the end of the game to dictate the winner and add up on various factors in the game by player contribution to the terraforming process, as well as building human infrastructure on the Red planet.
  • In the game players collect income and resources which allow them to buy to their hand and play different project cards. These cards can represent various technologies, amongst others, infrastructure built, scientific accomplishments or localised events. So anything from introducing plant life or animals, hurling asteroids at the surface, building cities, to mining the moons of Jupiter and establishing greenhouse gas industries to heat up the atmosphere. The cards can give you immediate bonuses, as well as increasing your production of different resources. Many cards also have requirements and they become playable when the temperature, oxygen, or ocean coverage increases enough. Buying cards is costly, so there is a balance between buying cards (3 megacredits per card) and actually playing them (which can cost anything between 0 to 41 megacredits, depending on the project). Standard Projects are always available to complement your cards. The cards played can then increase the players income, resources or directly contribute to terraforming the Red planet. Your basic income, as well as your basic score, is based on your Terraform Rating (starting at 20), which increases every time you raise one of the three global parameters. However, your income is complemented with your production, and you also get VPs from many other sources.Capitalism at its best!
  • Each player keeps track of their production and resources on their player boards, and the game uses six types of resources: MegaCredits, Steel, Titanium, Plants, Energy, and Heat. On the game board, you compete for the best places for your city tiles, ocean tiles, and greenery tiles. You also compete for different Milestones and Awards worth many VPs. The game automatically ends when three terraforming conditions have all been met:
  • 1, the atmosphere's oxygen level has been raised to 14%
  • 2, the temperature has risen to 8 degrees Celsius
  • 3, nine ocean tiles have been placed.
  • There have been five very good expansions released for this excellent game, Hellas and Elysium (2017), Venus Next (2017), Prelude (2018), Colonies (2018), and Turmoil (2019).
