We offer a very early Victorian papier / paper mache tray with the English registry date mark for November 11,1847 and merchandised by Ede & Co. at Ludgate Hill, London.

The tray is ornamented with a central field of hand painted flowers against a black background. The edging of the tray is enriched with gilt scrolling and winged dragons. The reverse of the tray has the English Registry mark, the store name, and the gilder's numbers.

The tray measures 25" in width and 31 1/2" in length. The tray is in gently used vintage condition with normal crackling appropriate with the age.

The tray is accompanied with a twentieth century base with faux bamboo legs in a black ebony finish highlighted with gold detailing.
