Interesting 125 year commemorative 1 litre wine jug for the Neustadt/Weinstraße Singing Club. This was made in 1992 to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Neustadt Singing Club (choir). This was formed in 1867 and in 1902 it incorporated the ‘Wine Route’ area. It has the usual wine jug bulbous shape and has a light grey background with embossed grape & vine decoration which is blue in colour. On the front it has the badge of the Neustadt/Weinstraße Singing Club in black, gold and red. Above the badge is ‘125 Jahre’ and below is ‘Treu dem lied in freud und leid’. This translates as ‘Faithful to the song in joy and sorrow’ and is the motto of the club. The jug looks like it has never been used and is glazed inside and out apart from the rim of the base. It has the ‘1L’ mark near the top of the handle. On the base it has ‘Made in Germany’ and the triangular logo of manufacturers Zöller & Born. It stands 7 1/4 inches (184.00mm) high and has a maximum diameter of 5 inches (127.00mm).
