Filbert Bayi Sanka is the Tanzanian former middle-distance runner who competed throughout the 1970s. Filbert set the world records for 1500 metres in 1974 and the mile in 1975.

FILBERT IS STILL, TO THIS DAY, THE COMMONWEALTH GAMES 1500m RECORD HOLDER !

Born in a small village of Karatu, near Arusha, Tanzania, Filbert had to run eight miles every day to and from school as a boy.

Filbert's greatest moment was arguably the 1500 m final at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, when he won the gold medal ahead of Sir John Walker and Kenyan Ben Jipcho. Filbert set a new world record of 3 min 32.16 s, and Sir John also broke the former world record set by Jim Ryun!

FROM MY PRIVATE COLLECTION, HERE IS A MAGNIFICENT, PERSONALLY SIGNED COMMONWEALTH GAMES PHOTO FROM FILBERT THAT RECALLS THAT GREAT DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH.

The photo is 8-inches by 6-inches.

The photo is in mint condition.

Filbert signed in blue sharpie.

Filbert's signature is permanent.

Filbert's signature is perfectly legible, crystal clear and completely free from any stains, smears or bleeding.

A magnificent addition to any "legends" sports collection.

As always - no nonsense - I GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THIS AND EVERY SIGNATURE IN MY COLLECTION FOR LIFE or your money back and I put that in writing too!
