This is an exceptional vintage plate made by Royal Worcester in famous Game Birds pattern.
The plate is hand painted by Leighton Maybury and signed by the artist.
There is a beautiful Wild Duck bird at the center.
The plate is marked with brown Royal Worcester mark, that dates the piece at 1949.
The plate is 8" in diameter.
It is really extraordinary piece.
The Plate is in very good condition.
There could be some small flaws, utensils marks and gold loss consistent with age and use.
Exceptional collector’s piece.
Would have a place in any china collection.
Leighton Maybury is a British Postwar & Contemporary artist who was born in 1929.
Leighton was a Royal Worcester trained decorator/artist
He worked at Royal Worcester until the early 1950s, when he became a freelance artist/decorator.
His work was varied and included not only "Fruit" designs, but also birds, horses, landscapes and portraiture.
Leighton died in March 2013, aged 83.
Leighton Maybury's work has been offered at auction multiple times
with realized prices ranging from $150 USD to $2,500 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork.
