A very unusual book, The Adventures of Madalene and Louisa. The authors of this captivating “Found” masterpiece - a girlhood fantasy illustrated in exuberant watercolors - were Madalene and Louisa Pasley who write this album in 1859 when the sisters were 11 and 12. Dedicated entomologists, the girls portrayed themselves as two eccentric spinsters chasing beetles and butterflies and all manners of insects.
Hardcover with dust jacket, this is the first American edition published by Random House in 1980.
