This cover was sent by a soldier on active duty during the Boer War home to England using the stamps available, including a pair of North Borneo Stamps each 1/2 Cent, likely brought with the soldier as he was redeployed, and a Great Britain 1/2d stamp.

The important thing to note here is the usage of the North Borneo stamps from South Africa.  To say nothing of the history attached to them and the cover, it's certainly almost unheard of to see them used outside of North Borneo in this manner.  Again, the importance and significance here is not the stamps alone, but rather where and when they were sent from.  The two stamps are from the North British Borneo Coat of Arms Series, and may be SG 36, the 1/2d Purple Rose.

It was sent by a sergeant in the 2nd Lincolnshire Fusiliers and cancelled FPO July 3, 1900.  The cover was accepted and delivered in England without postage due.  This item is not only VERY RARE, but UNIQUE, unlike any we've ever seen!  It would be a fine crown jewel of a stamp collection, and it could be yours!
