This is an entire cover and letter from Port Louis, Mauritius to Marseille, France. It was sent January 9, 1858 between merchants and endorced: "Vice Aden of Marseille," showing the "Ship Letter/Mauritius" in oval on the back. This is very rare. It also has the "8" manuscript for postage on the front and the Mauritius Merchant's handstamp on the front as well. This item is rare because of the pocket charges noted "8."
