Gene Davis: Paintings 1960-1972
 

We offer a signed exhibition poster created 1972 by Gene Bernard Davis, American (1920-1985) for the three city exhibition titled "Gene Davis: Paintings 1960-1972". The exhibition was shown at University of Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Friends of Contemporary Art, Denver, and Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha. 
The poster is a multi-color silkscreen on wove paper and has been lightly signed in pencil on the image at the lower right corner. 
The poster is presented in a silver frame under glass and the dimensions are 32 1/4" x 23 1/4". The paper dimensions are 30 1/2" x 22".
The poster is in very good vintage condition with vivid coloration to the stripes. There is a chip to the glass on the right side as seen i the photographs.

Gene Davis (Washington, D.C., 1920 - 1985) was a self-taught artist and founding member of the Washington Color School. He taught at the Corcoran School of Art and American University and was an artist-in-residence at Skidmore College. He had over 100 one-man shows and while he worked in many styles and media, including collage and photography, his multi-color vertical stripe paintings continue to be the most sought after. His work is in museum collections around the world, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Tate Gallery, Guggenheim Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
