Margaret of Valois was a French princess, who was the queen consort of Navarre and France, through her marriage to Henry III of Navarre.

Illustrated with a vignette to the title page.

Written by Jean-Hippolyte Mariejol.

Bookplate to the front pastedown, 'Pax in Bello'. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper, and to the recto to the front free endpaper.


CONDITION

In a half vellum binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. A little discolouration to the vellum, as is usual. Small crack to the tail of the front joint. Loss to the spine label. A little loss to the tail of the spine. A few spots to the boards and spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper, and to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and clean. Small chip to the half-title, not affecting text.
