'The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table' is a collection of essays that were originally published in 'The Atlantic Monthly'. The essays are in the form of one-sided dialogue, and discuss the benefits of old age, the nature of conversation, and the finest place to site a dwelling.
'The Poet', being published at a much later date, is noted to have a more mellow and nostalgic tone.

Oliver Wendell Holmes was an American poet, polymath, and physician. As a poet he was a member of the Fireside Poets, a group of popular American poets.

CONDITION
In a half crushed morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor fading to the spines. Bookplate to the front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots.
