An absolutely stunning vintage solid brass statue of Devi Lakshmi, here offered in very good condition, with just minor marks/scratches or flows as commensurate with age and display. A large & solid heavy sculpture, over 4 ft tall & weighing in excess of 25kg, possibly dating around c1900, but cannot be certain, and all interested parties may make their own enquiries. A small piece is missing ( broken off ) from the left shoulder, as shown in the last pic. This doesn't distract from the main sculpture, which is all intact, and perhaps helps signify its authenticity. Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess/deity of wealth & prosperity, achiever of goals, fertility & auspiciousness. She is the great Goddess of power, beauty, luxury & holds the promise of material fulfilment and contentment. Lakshmi is also the consort of Vishnu, the Lord of preservation & balance.
The name 'Lakshmi' is derived from 'Laksha', meaning 'goal' or 'aim', hence she is the goddess who leads to one's goal, a bestower of all that is desired and achievable. Lakshmi presents a powerful force in the earthly realm as the mother goddess, with an abundance of auspicious qualities. This is a beautiful sculpture cast in solid brass with a good weight & substance and in great condition for its age. A wonderful artefact to have in any temple, home, business or office setting, or for religious worship & prayer. Weighing at over 21kg and 4 ft in height, this sculpture is sure to arouse a lot of interest & be a great lasting investment item.
