1995 Stamp Sheet of Coronation Street GENUINE Postage Stamps

On offer here is a nice piece of Coronation Street memorabilia, especially for stamp collectors!  These "Local Issue" stamps were issued in 1995 by Gairsay (Orkney, Scotland, UK) to commemorate the 35th Anniversary (1960-1995) of Coronation Street. The stamps are 100% GENUINE and Officially Authorised by Gairsay, the Royal Mail and Granada Television.  The stamps are Officially Catalogued in the Locals Issue Stamp Catalogues, such as the Phillips 2009 British Locals Philatelic Agency Catalogue (Vol.1, 4th Edition).

PLEASE NOTE: The stamps are not valid for postage in mainland Britain unless the Royal Mail postage stamps are also applied.  They were issued offshore (under licence from the Royal Mail) and were only valid for delivery to the mainland Post Office, at which point the Royal Mail took responsibility for delivery.  The postal rates for delivery to the mainland was double those of the UK, hence some of the higher value issues.  The stamps are genuine, and listed in various stamp catalogues.  They were issued primarily to support the boat services to the mainland and the community councils of the islands.  They have also found popularity with visitors to the islands (who then use the postal service, e.g. for postcards; or for Corrie fans to collect - and help raise revenue for the islands) and stamp collectors worldwide.
