Margot
Hamilton Hill (XX-XXI) Set & Costume designer, book illustrator and
lecturer on the history of fashion. Margot met Alfred Daniels (1924-2015) at a
dance at the RCA and later married him. I have acquired a number of set and costume
paintings by Margot dating from around the 1950’s. I also have a number of preliminary
studies by Alfred. The last three
images show a part of the whole collection and
an article written by Alfred Daniels in the publication ‘Creative Arts’, which features
illustration by Margot (not included in this sale) This listing is for a single
paper by Margot, as detailed below.

Gouache
on paper applied to card. Costume design 'Delio' for the play The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster. Painting in reasonable condition. There is handling/creases , minor rippling to a couple of edges, age toning and other minor surface marks/blemishes. Notes to paper, though unsigned, circa mid 20th
century.
Paper measures 15cm x 38.1cm, with the back board being slightly larger.
