The final was a different matter with the Australians romping home against Pakistan at Lords to claim World Cup number two. Four years later at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, newly appointed leader Ricky Ponting played a magnificent ‘captain’s knock’ to blaze 140 not out in a massive Australian one day score of 359 – even with Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid in the team, India yielded to the relentless pressure to be all out for 234. Another World Cup for Australia and the only nation to win the Cricket World Cup three times – a testament to the players and captains of these three magnificent Australian sides.
