BORDER - WAUGH - PONTING

MASTERCLASS

Celebrating Australia’s record breaking three World Cup wins – the captains captured in action together for the first time in fine art. After an Australian finals appearance in the inaugural 1975 World Cup, it wasn’t until 1987 in Calcutta, a team of Aussie ‘die-hards’ led by ‘Captain Courageous’ - Allan Border- and 'Man of the Match' David Boon stunned the cricketing world by beating a highly fancied English team… World Cup number one and a signal to the rest of the world that Australia was back as a cricketing force. 1999 and Australia adopted a world first of selecting a specialist national One Day team - with Steve Waugh at the helm this Australian side sensationally drew with South Africa in the semi-final. The final was a different matter with the Australians romping home against Pakistan at Lords to claim World Cup number two. Four years later at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, newly appointed leader Ricky Ponting played a magnificent ‘captain’s knock’ to blaze 140 not out in a massive Australian one day score of 359 – even with Tendulkar, Ganguly and Dravid in the team, India yielded to the relentless pressure to be all out for 234. Another World Cup for Australia and the only nation to win the Cricket World Cup three times – a testament to the players and captains of these three magnificent Australian sides.

In an exquisite limited edition lithograph, Australia’s most celebrated sports artist - Brian Clinton - has captured the extraordinary skills and pride of Australia’s three Cricket World Cup captains in a meticulously rendered work of art. Captured together for the first time, the centerpiece of this superb edition is the three Australian cricket captains – symbols of their teams'  World Cup achievements. Each master batsmen is captured twice; playing his signature shot and proudly holding up their team’s World Cup trophy. Brought to life in exquisite oils, each brushstroke has intimately captured every element in breathtaking detail, ensuring this real life capture of great Australian World Cup cricket moments. From AB’s baggy green and whites worn in the 1987 World Cup, to the ‘green and gold’ of Waugh and Ponting’s World Cup triumphs. -  every print is licensed jointly by Cricket Australia and the ICC and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and Limitation and is also signed by an audit partner of the major independent accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. For the first time ever, each edition is individually signed by Allan Border, Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting. The artist who captured them so brilliantly, Brian Clinton, has also signed each edition.
