Giorgio
Matteo Aicardi (1891- 1984) Italian painter born in Finalborgo, Savona. He
studied the Old Masters in Rome and Florence, completing his refinement in
London, Paris and Madrid. He was commissioned to paint new frescos in palaces
and churches, and restore existing frescos by Old Masters from fourteenth to
the eighteenth century. Giorgio Matteo Aicardi Also had great success painting
portraits at his studio and was commissioned to paint a number of advertising
posters. He was part of classic, post impressionist and modernist movements.
I
have acquired a body of work by Giorgio Matteo Aicardi, consisting mainly of
watercolours and drawings of life studies, religious works and fresco designs,
dated from early to mid 20th century. The last image details part of the collection.
This listing is for a single paper, as detailed below. I will always combine
postage with multiple purchases. Acquired from an extensive studio sale of the
artist’s work.
Three drawings on wove paper, two with grid lines, two applied to card. Handling/creases, toning, staining, soiled surface, some foxing, mainly to the smaller paper (paper loss and small tears to smaller paper, trimmed through the image) and other minor marks/blemishes. Two papers initialed, and two dated 1940 & 1960. Two papers inscribed in Italian, one dated 1966 and non signed.
Papers measure 14cm x 14cm to 30cm x 20cm.
