The Bell System (A distant ancestor to today's AT&T) created a long distance telecommunications network across the United States and parts of Canada. Towers like these stand completely unique in the telecommunication world. Their large antenna designed by Western Electric are a mainstay of not just rural America but also has been a part of the city skylines of many American metropolitan areas. 

Since the Bell System divestiture in the 1980's these towers have largely been decommissioned. The unique antenna are disappearing across the country. 

This 4x6 photo aims to not only capture the striking size of these towers and to preserve a piece of technological history. Captured in 2014 this particular tower is located in South Carolina which is part of a small group of towers currently preserved as of 2020.
