WELSH ROOF SLATE CANDLE SCONCE. REPURPOSED WITH THE ADDITION OF AN ANTIQUE FRENCH CHATEAU WALL LIGHT CANDLE HOLDER.

This wonderful old Welsh slate roof tile started life on a 19th c. cottage in Wales, and is one a quantity sourced and repurposed as candle sconces, four of which are on offer here. SEE SEPARATE LISTINGS FOR THE OTHER THREE.

This particular slate has been married with a genuine antique wall light candle holder, crimped cup and tulip head in style, reclaimed from a French chateau.

The patination on the slate is of particular interest. One can clearly see which half has been protected by the overlap of another slate, and which half has spent a lifetime up on the roof exposed to the vagaries of the inclement British climate. IMAGES 1 & 7.

The candle sconce is destined to shed light on many a balmy night outside in a garden setting with summer allegedly on the horizon. Equally, it would look the part hung on a dark Farrow & Balled interior in a contemporary setting. Two holes drilled for hanging adjacent to the candle cup head.

These Welsh slate candle sconces are highly original, and real decorator's pieces in suitably distressed condition. This is one of four currently available.  Please look carefully at the images as they form part of the description.
