This is a Steuben "Bombus". This chalice form vase is finely engraved with a design of bumble bees, clover, and blowing dandelion seeds. On one side the vase is engraved with the word "Bombus", the Latin genus name for bumble bee.  No, I'm not making that up. This limited edition exhibition piece was designed in 1953 by Bruce Moore, one of Steuben's mid-century designers. Bruce Moore, in addition to designing for Steuben, was a sculptor who exhibited nationally and is in many museum collections.  Signature: engraved signature "Steuben" on the bottom foot rim and engraved "Bruce Moore" on the side.  Condition: Excellent condition. There are no chips, hairlines, stains, or repairs.  The box itself is in fantastic shape.  Both of them have only very rarely seen the light of day until now.

This piece will be shipped free of charge to you and in a sturdier box along with the one it comes in.
