Chapter1 Punchi Nona herself – Ceylon is the scene of the story which I’m going totell you, and Punchi Nona is the name of the girl about whom I am going towrite. They you must be careful as to how you pronounce this name. If you pronounceit as you do the name of the hero of the Punch and Judy shows and anybody fromCeylon should hear you, it would set his teeth on edge, just as the sharpeningthe file does yours. It considered a dreadful thing to pronounce U that way andwhen English people say Buddha as they often do with a short you instead of Boodhait becomes quite painful to anyone who knows anything of Eastern languages. Soif you say the name until you must please pronounce it as if it were written PoonchiNona……
