We offer Plate 5 from a series of engravings of Rome and Naples by Luigi Rossini in the first half of the nineteenth century.  
The plate is a hand coloured aquatint of the Roman Forum known as the Piazza del Popolo with an Egyptian obelisk of Ramesses II in the center flanked by the churches of Santa Maria in Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
 
The framing is by W. King Ambler Old Prints and Maps with a label on the reverse stating:

W. King Ambler's career began as a furniture representative who began selling in 1944 his original prints and maps that he had collected in Europe. Before 1968, outside galleries framed his prints and maps. By 1978, his family opened a physical showroom. Today the company recreates copies of original artwork which will be labeled accordingly.
 
Printed with wide margins on wove paper, the colours of the aquatint are bright with no yellowing of the paper.
  The framed aquatint engraving measures 16 3/4" in height and 20 3/4" in width. The image measures 9 7/8" in height and 14 1/2" in width. Glazed and matted with a cream colored silk matboard edged in gold.
