The Penguin Poets:
Contemporary Verse – Edited by Kenneth Allott~
Paperback book
Penguin D12 1950
With selections from 86 poets this anthology maps the course of English poetry
from 1918-60. In it the major poets of
each generation are given generous space - T. S. Eliot, W. H. Auden, Dylan
Thomas, Philip Larkin - others may be introduced with a single poem, but all of
them are placed in context with a biographical note, a short commentary and
bibliography.
Condition:
The book is in acceptable condition. The
cover has splits and a couple of small missing chunks to the spine, a diagonal
split on the back, very slightly creased / bent corners, minor creasing, faint
surface marks and slight age browning. Inside,
the book has a couple of slightly creased / bent corners especially toward the
back, a couple of small marks / spots, slight creasing and rippling and slight
age browning especially around the edges.
The cover seems to be loosening slightly but the pages appear to be
totally intact and secure.
