Course
- Auto 1 - Introduction to Automotive Locksmithing -- (3Hr. 49 Min.)
We have had many requests
to make a course dealing with the skills needed to be an automotive
locksmith. This Course, Auto 1, is in response to those requests.
Automotive locksmithing is a very large subject and it is not realistic to
think that a person could watch a 45 minute course and begin work in this
field. Consequently,
this first course is nearly FOUR HOURS long.
Even with a four hour course we cannot cover everything on this topic and
Auto 2, Auto 3, Auto 4, Auto 5, & Auto 6 are now available. We believe Auto 1 covers enough
material that it will allow a person to get started working in this field.
Please Note: Auto locksmithing is not easy for everyone. Some people pick up on these skills right away and other people have difficulty. It depends on how mechanically skilled a person is. If you already know how to decode locks and impression locks you will have an advantage. If you don't have these skill you may want to purchase our basic program, Courses 1-8, and learn those skills first. If you have no experience, at the very least, consider getting Course #6 which covers impressioning.
After completing this course you will have the basic skills needed to do automotive locksmithing. Most of the examples in this course focus on Ford, Mercury, & Lincoln vehicles. However, many of the skills apply to all makes and models.
This course starts with the very basics and goes through how to actually program a transponder key to a car. The course does not cover high security keys (sidewinder keys). That topic will be covered in a later course.
Again, this course is nearly four hours of instruction. We could have broken this course down into three or four smaller courses but a person really needs all of the skills presented to have a chance to be successful at this type of work. Therefore we just put all of these basic skills into one course. It only takes one automotive job to pay for this course.
This course is divided into 18 parts and will come on two DVDs. Disc 1
contains parts 1 - 7 and Disc 2 contains parts 8 - 18. The above video contains sample selections from this course.
