Legend:

This beautiful print depicts papies and smoking utensils used in various countries of Europe. The pipes depicted are from Norway, France, Italy, belgium, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Bohemia and Greece. All kinds of materials were used to make a pipe, including glass, porcelain, horn and other non-traditionalmaterials. Each country had a distinguished method of producing and embellishing the pipes, fore xample, Holladn had a 'monopoly' in making paipes of clay, Austria was known for wooden papies with painted ornaments. In some of the countries, like Hungary, orinetal influence could be seen.
