Among the rare "Ko-Sometsuke" ware, Chinese blue and white porcelain made for Japanese market in the late Ming dynasty, are these basket form dish similar to my listing item (see my references below). It's a Sumitori, charcoal container for the tea ceremony.
This is a rare Japanese domestic market vessel, hand formed, not molded, and the decoration depicts a sail boat anchoring near a remoted island beside secluded house and old scholars playing Go game or Chess. In the distant is mountain range surrounded with cloud. The base shows marks of knife trimming.
