An elegant looking Victorian dome topped, burr walnut veneered tea caddy, with brass mounts and original working lock with an old key which has been adapted, and works well in the old lock, circa 1870.
The brass hinged top opens to reveal two sections for containing tea, with lift off Satin Wood lids that have small brass knobs. The interiors of the tea containers have the remnants of their original lead foil lining. The interior of the lid has its original pale blue moiré silk lining, and the base has been given a new green baize lining.
Cleaned, re-waxed and polished. Inevitably with burr walnut, it has required some minor veneer restoration, and is again in excellent presentable condition.
Measurements: 23.5cm wide, 13cm deep and 14cm high.
