Skagway Sportsmans Garment Quilted Coveralls

With an embroidered Chevy Patch on the left upper sleeve “The Number 1 Team Snowmobiler” it’s red white & blue and features the profile of an old school sled and the Chevy Bow Tie logo. I’m sure this was proudly worn by an employee of the Bay City Chevrolet Parts Plant in Michigan.

From a knowledgeable member of a vintage snowmobile group:

“The guy I talked to last night is retired from Saginaw Steering Gear (and was a snowmobiler) at GM from the '60s to the '90s. "The Number 1 Team" saying was Chevy's 1960s motto to each and every employee to do their best to keep Chevy #1 in the world. There were decals, posters, stickers, and etc everywhere from production plants to dealerships. In 1967, the year the Chevy Employee The Number 1 Team video came, it was huge. Snowmobiling was starting to boom at the same time and during that era people put patches and badges all over their jackets and suits. Someone from one of the plants in Saginaw came up with the idea of a snowmobile patch with the slogan on it. Chevy management liked it from a marketing standpoint and also as a way to identify Chevy (GM) employees while at the races, rides, and establishments to build team camaraderie. That patch was given out at many Michigan plants. He doesn't know if it made it outside the state.”
