Sterling contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals (in this case, copper). Sterling is springier than fine silver and keeps it's shape better. Sterling is better to use for structural pieces where strength is crucial. For the best shine possible, polish Sterling silver with a soft cloth, preferably a cloth especially made for polishing silver. The more Sterling silver is handled, the stiffer it will become. It's best to polish the wire after making the jewelry piece. Because Sterling is made with copper, expect to have to polish it regularly to keep a great shine. Use anti-tarnish tabs or bags to extend your jewelry's shine longer. I sell anti-tarnish products here in my shop.
