A faulty or leaky fuel cap can release up to 30 gallons of fuel into the atmosphere per year. All MotoRad fuel caps comply with all Federal (MVSS301) and I/M 240 regulations. MotoRad fuel caps pass the tip, impact, valve performance, and leak tests. All state and federal emissions regulations are met by MotoRad standard fuel caps. The caps are equipped with pressure and vacuum relief valves to prevent fuel evaporation. Installing a new fuel cap can help you save fuel and reduce emissions. If your gas cap starts to leak fuel vapors, your check engine light may illuminate after your next fill-up. This is due to the seal deterioration, which means it is no longer holding pressure inside the fuel tank as it should.
