Lot of Five 19th Century Victorian and George III/IV Era Legal Documents

For sale is one lot of five unique British and Irish legal documents (seven sheets total). These are beautifully hand-scripted on vellum (except one as described). These are original 19th century documents from the reigns of Queen Victoria, King George III and King George IV, not reproductions. Would look great matted, framed and hanging on the walls of a law or attorney's office, a title company or a real estate company. Perfect gift for any lawyer, barrister, solicitor or legal graduate.

Items and conditions are as described below:

  • Hand calligraphied one-page lease hand-written on vellum. The document text refers to "the late Majesty King William the fourth" whose reign ended in 1837. It is affixed with a blue seal in the upper left corner that says, "Ireland One Pound." Reverse has no text, but contain a small stamp in the upper right corner that says, "73 R VR" which presumably refers to his successor, Queen Victoria. The 73 could refer to the year 1873. Excellent condition, with no rips or tears. Minor foxing on upper right. Measures approximately 21" x 28".
  • Hand scripted two-page lease hand-written on vellum. Affixed with a blue seal in the upper left corner that says, "One Pound Five Shillings." Below that is a stamp that says, "LONDON 13 10 47." Excellent condition, with no rips or tears. Original script has been edited with some pencil marks, that seem original to the document. Reverse sides have no text, but contain a small stamp in the upper right corner that says, "18 6 VR" which seems to be a reference to Queen Victoria. The 18 6 could be an incomplete year. Measures approximately 19" x 26".
  • Two page, hand-written indenture. Dated June 29, 1864. Bottom two inches are folded over and stitched together, forming three small pockets at the bottom fo the document. The front of each pocket has a small, red wax seal on the front. Blue stamp on upper left reads, "Nine Shillings." Document includes several Queen Victoria stamps. Writing on first page continues onto reverse. Front of the next page includes a small color plat in the upper left showing property location. When folded, back of document shows lease details such as names and dates. Condition is good, though there does appear to be some minor water damage that occured in one corner of folded document, which is visible in document center when unfolded. Measures approximately 26.5" x 21".
  • Two page, hand-scripted lease. This appears to be the oldest of the documents in this lot. Blue stamps in upper left corners of each page are embossed, "GR III, Five Shillings, Ireland," presumably a reference to King George III, Ireland." A second stamp below it is embossed, "Ireland. George IV, Lease, July 1823." Dated June 29, 1864. The reverse of each page contains no text, but each has two stamps with the initials, "G R" which are likely the seals of George Regina (King George). Pages are clean and unmarked, with minor foxing on the upper right. Both pages have a small tear on the bottom center. Measures approximately 27" x 22".
  • Improvement Loan Charge document. Date stamped July 14, 1858. Document is preprinted on paper, and hand-filled in ink with the names, dates, locations and other particulars. When unfolded, Blue stamps in the upper right and left say, "One Pound Five Shillings." When unfolded, the inside left page has a Schedule of Lands Charged, which appears to be a payment schedule. Includes two stamps showing the seal of Queen Victoria. Measures approximately 19.5" x 14.5", folded in half, then into quarters.
