20 Tulip Poplar Seeds (Liriodendron tulipifera) TULIP TREE, BIG FLOWERS USA Seller
Other Names: American Tulip Tree, Whitewood, Fiddletree, Tulipwood, Yellow Poplar
Grow Zones: 4,5,6,7,8,9

The American tulip tree blooms large flowers in colors of yellow and orange and features a long straight crown and narrow trunk. Over some time, L. tulipifera can grow into a wonderful shade tree as the crown spreads out with age. These trees can reach heights of 70-90 ft at full maturity if not potted and live a long lifespan (up to 300 years).

Yellow Poplar native tulip trees grow in most soil types and are highly drought-tolerant and deer-resistant. Interestingly, they are also fire-resistant as well. Likewise, they are a solid choice for dry areas of the country known for wildfire threat (California, Texas, North Carolina and Montana). The fire-resistant soft wood is highly sought after for furniture and framing work. Additionally, it is also a honey tree with enough nectar per mature tree to produce 4 lbs of honey per season!

Germination Procedure: Cold stratify seeds for 2-3 months in the fridge or freezer before sowing. Sow seeds at a half an inch depth.
