Vintage Chicago Stadium - Bears Football Photograph Measures Approx 20" x 17" Black & White

A unique piece of NFL memorabilia, this photo reprint shows the inside of legendary Chicago Stadium as it hosts the 1932 NFL Championship Game, the only championship football game ever held indoors (not in a dome).

Held at Chicago Stadium on 12/18/32, the game pitted the host Chicago Bears vs. the Portsmouth Spartans.  Both teams were tied in the regular season standings, thus this game was played as a tiebreaker to determine the NFL champion.

Due to snowy frigid weather conditions in Chicago, the game was played on a makeshift 80 yard field indoors at the Chicago Stadium, where the Bears ultimately prevailed 9-0 to claim the 1932 NHL crown.

The photo, measuring roughly 20" wide x 17" tall, is a vinyl reprint given to me by my father sometime in the 1970's.  I do not know how or where he obtained it.  The photo is loosely mounted on a sheet of cardboard but can be easily removed for framing.  The photo's caption, bottom left, reads: Chicago Stadium, site of the NFL's first playoff game.

I do not know the original photo source, but do know the image depicts the Stadium in a west-to-east direction, showing the makeshift shortened field and spectators in the foreground and background.  The Stadium's famed organ loft is visible in the photo's far end.  The vinyl photo's condition is excellent, with no rips, tears, or flaws.  A bit of bubbling on bottom border.

Unique piece for the NFL or Chicago history collector!
