If you are looking at this ad then you are probably well aware of the quality and reputation of the speaker and audio specialists Tannoy of the UK and their products which was founded in 1926 by electronics visionary and designer Guy R Fountain. However, for those of you who are new to this brand what we have here is an upgraded pair of Tannoy Monitor Gold LSU/HF/15/8 dual concentric loud speakers with beige box crossovers. The rewire upgrade was professionally done by a speaker builder with Mundorf silver gold wire and NASA cable. The result of the cable upgrade results in the drivers delivering a smoother more extended and detailed sound throughout the frequency spectrum while correcting the only weakness of this classic speaker.
Marked made in England and designed for home and studio listening the Tannoy Monitor Gold is a reference level loud speaker that delivers excellent musicality and when partnered with quality audio equipment produce excellent musical results. Once connected the Tannoy Monitor Gold plays both LP's and CD's with dynamics, depth, width and space between instruments and whether playing jazz, classical, rock or reggae the Tannoy Monitor Gold delivers an articulated bass where by notes sound as though plucked and played rather than a blurred flurry. While the treble is extended which gives clarity and detail to percussion, flutes and cymbals. As for the midrange voices, strings and horns are realistic sounding with space and air between them.
As
for the condition these speakers are in excellent condition
with minor age and use related scuffing and a minor dink on the
chassis. Although the speaker drivers are in very good condition and excellent working
order without holes, rubbing, distortion or damage to the surrounds. Although the magnet caps one is dented while the other is cracked and while it did not effect the cound when connected and may benefit from a patch repair or replacing
and as such, I'd rate these drivers and crossovers as 7.5/10 overall. Serial numbers 122462/124695.
