Sig Sakowicz signed record album from 1967.

This record album was signed in the upper left hand corner in black marker: "Jackie Vernon + Sig Sakowicz WGN - WTAQ. The record album is I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman by Whistling Jack Smith released in 1967. It is stamped PROMO COPY NOT FOR SALE. The story on Whistling Jack Smith is also fascinating, but too much to present here (look it up, though). As for the Jackie Vernon reference, read on.

Sig (Sigmund) Sakowicz (1924-2004) had a long career in Chicago radio starting in 1954. He was a fixture on WGN, WTAQ, WTAX, WPNA and on TV on Channel 44. In 1972, he moved to Las Vegas for a while, hosted a TV show and wrote a gossip column. He returned to Chicago in 1985, where he was on WVVX radio and later starred in a syndicated TV show, "Sig's Celebrity Cooking," which was twice nominated for daytime Emmy awards. He ran for president in 1972 with the slogan "Vote for Sig Sakowicz for President. What have you got to lose?" The comedian Jackie Vernon would use "Sig Sakowicz" in his routines whenever he needed a funny name. He even received an honorary street name: Sig Sakowicz Drive (32Wabansia Av).

Pictures are of the actual item for sale. Record album in solid VG condition, quite enjoyable. We cleaned it and play graded it.
