This high-quality reproduction of the iconic 1958 Citroën ID19  comes in a brilliant orange with a white roof.  This replica is complete all the way down to its windshield wipers and well-detailed interior, featuring Citroën's trademark single-spoke steering wheel.

I fell in love with the Citroën the first time I laid eyes on one, in a wrecking yard in northern New Jersey in the early '70s.  At the time, I knew nothing of the marque's history:  how the DS19 was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1955 - a short ten years after France was almost razed by Hitler's army - or how it set sales records (743 orders within the first fifteen minutes, and 80,000 in the ten days of the show) which would remain unbroken until Tesla (via internet order-taking) racked up 180,000 first-day deposits for its Model 3 in 2016.  I didn't know about its revolutionary hydropneumatic automatic-leveling suspension system and variable ground clearance (both musts on France's notoriously bad roadways) or its introduction and unique deployment of inboard disc brakes.  I didn't know about the fiberglass roof or center lock wheels or any of that.  All I knew was that it was the most beautiful car I'd ever seen.

And even though I am primarily a Harley guy, truly love my American-made motorcycles and cars, and still pine for the 1968 Pontiac Catalina I foolishly let slip away from me, nothing in the intervening years has shaken my belief that the Citroën is, bar none, the most beautiful car the world has ever produced.

Give that real Citroëns sell for more than my house these days, this 1:43 replica -part of the Editions Atlas line - is the closest I'll ever get to owning one of these gorgeous, historic, groundbreaking and innovative automobiles, but it's time to let some new owner enjoy it.
