Coming from a modest Flemish family, Pierre-Marcel Aerts was born in 1928 in the Liège region (Belgium). From the age of 14, he entered working life while attending painting school classes (Masters Leclercq, then Masson and Renson).
In 1950, he emigrated permanently to Reims, in the Marne, in the heart of Champagne and enrolled in the courses of Master Macquart, for eight years. From 1958, he attended for ten years the painting academy of the rue de la Grande Chaumière in Paris (Masters Aujame and Rodde).
From 1968, Pierre-Marcel Aerts taught plastic arts in various high schools in the region and he painted in his superb studio or on the paths of his adopted country.
Today, retired from National Education, he continues to paint. He has in his reserves nearly a thousand paintings. It is one of the most highly rated signatures in the region. Prizes and distinctions: 1966: Selected for the Prix de la Critique de Paris and Silver Medal for French Artists

1968: Silver Medal from the City of Reims and First Prize from the City of Agen
1969: First prize from the City of Le Bourget and First prize from the City of Franconville
1970: Prize of the General Council of the Vosges, Epinal Chevalier in the order of Academic Palms
