Hutsulia is located in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains and is known
for its needlework, woodcarving, weaving, pottery and pysanky (Easter
eggs). Hutsuly (people from Hutsulia) traditionally use very complicated
geometrical symbols for their pysanka's.
These pysanka's differ from the other with their brigh colors. The most
used colors in Hutsulian pysanka's are yellow, orange, red and black or dark red
colors.
Decorating their pysanky hutsuly are using images of plants and animals that
surround them in daily life. They symbolize happiness and prosperity,
aspecially horses, deers, squirrels, birds and fish. These symbols represent
ancient pysanka traditions of this wonderful land.
