Patriotic Propaganda Poster Stamp

Political propaganda poster stamp issued by the Országos Habsburgelenes Liga (National Anti-Habsburg League) in the 1920s. There was a series of stamps, known with as many as 30 different designs, printed in various color combinations. These stamps warned against a return to rule by the Habsburg family in Hungary (and greater Europe).
According to an article on Rubicon.hu by Márton Békés:

The organization, founded in 1920, was under the auspices of Gyula Gömbös, and its purpose was to prevent the return of the House of Habsburg and to spread propaganda against the Habsburg dynasty and the legitimist camp that also represented its interests. The organization can perhaps be considered the only grouping of the Horthy era that was truly above the parties, since among its prominent members, in addition to former leading Octobrists, there were members of the first rank of the counter-revolutionary government in Szeged, and representatives of independence before 1918 were members as well as anti-racial authors and hard-to-classify writers, nationalist historians or the later editor-in-chief of the party paper of the Nyilaskereszestes Party. What connected them was none other than as a powerful representation of the Hungarian tradition of independence. It is not surprising that most of them were Reformed.
This stamp is printed in blue on white paper, and depicts a hangman holding a rope to hang a victim, and has the text "Soha Többé Habsburg!" (Never again a Habsburg!). There is also the name "haynau" on the stamp, which refers to Austrian General von Haynau.
    According to Wikipedia:

Julius Jakob Freiherr von Haynau (14 October 1786 – 14 March 1853) was an Austrian general who suppressed insurrectionary movements in Italy and Hungary in 1848 and later. While a hugely effective military leader, he also gained renown as an aggressive and ruthless commander. His soldiers called him the "Habsburg Tiger"; those opponents who suffered from his brutality called him the "Hyena of Brescia" and the "Hangman of Arad".
This series was printed by Budapest printer József Hoffmann.
This design is listed in Ch Blase's "Hungarian Poster Stamps and Similar Cinderellas" as # 323.10.14.

After 35+ years I decided to retire from being an active Cinderella Stamp dealer. Most of my working inventory plus backup stock was sold at public auction. However, I have retained some material that I will be offering for sale. In addition, I have some "new" material that was mixed into lots I have bought for my own collections. I will be listing some of the material in my eBay store at fixed prices. I will also be offering some material at auction, either as single items or mixed lots. There will be many bargains available. There will be large and small lots, some containing similar material, some containing a random mixture, and some containing only one or a few items. The condition will be mixed, but none of the lots will be just accumulations of damaged or faulty stamps (unless specifically listed as such).

Items in stockpage or larger lots may be removed and repackaged into glassines to save on shipping costs.

A Note about Poster Stamps and Gum: Because many poster stamp collectors are primarily interested in the image on the stamp, the absence or presence of gum on the back is of little concern. If no mention of gum is made, then there may or may not be gum present. If you are only interested in poster stamps with original gum, please inquire before bidding. Actual condition issues (that are not apparent from the scan) WILL be described.

A Note about "Stock Images": Occasionally I will have more than one example of an item in inventory. Rather than scan each one individually, I may use the same image for multiple examples of the item. If that is the case, the item supplied will be in substantially the same, or better, condition than the image. Any such items will have the words: "STOCK IMAGE" at the end of the description.
