단국대학교 국어국문학과에서 한국어교육 박사학위를 받았다.
단국대학교에서 외국인 학생들에게 한국어를 가르치고 있다.
KBS 월드에서 11개 국어로 발간된 《한국어로 말해요》 《한국어 SOS》의 대표 저자이다.
세종학당재단 《한국어 기초어휘 학습사전》 공동 집필자,
〈한류콘텐츠를 활용한 온라인 한국어 학습콘텐츠 개발> 공동 연구원으로 참여했다.
〈한국어 교육을 위한 문법 표현 연구〉 〈준말의 의미 변화〉 등의 연구 논문이 있다.
영화배우 이준기가 음원 녹음에 참여한 《이준기와 함께하는 안녕하세요 한국어》
(한국어판, 영어판, 일본어판, 중국어판, 스페인어판 5개 국어)를 집필했다.
전 세계의 많은 친구들이 더욱 쉽고 재미있게 한국어를 배웠으면 하는 바람으로
《한글의 모음과 자음》을 집필했다.
Soyoung graduated from Korea University’s College of Education
with a master’s degree in Japanese language education.
She received her Ph.D. in Korean literature and language from Dankook University,
where she currently teaches Korean as a foreign language.
Soyoung was the primary author of Let’s Speak Korean and Korean SOS,
which were published in 11 languages by KBS World.
She was a co-author of Korean Basic Vocabulary Learning Dictionary
by the King Sejong Institute Foundation and a co-researcher
of “Utilizing Hallyu Content to Develop Online Content for Learning Korean.”
She has written a number of papers, including “Research into Grammar
and Expressions for Korean Language Education” and “Changes in the Meaning of Abbreviations.”
Soyoung also wrote Hello Korean with Joongi Lee,
featuring recordings by the actor Joongi Lee and published in Korean, English, Japanese, Chinese,
and Spanish.
She wrote Korean Vowels and Consonants in the hope that more people around the world
will have an easier and more enjoyable time studying Korean.
