Pumpkin with Two Bats

We offer from China a vintage jade sculpture of a pumpkin gourd nestled amongst its leaves and vines with two bats alit above. In Chinese symbolism, a gourd or pumpkin attracts an abundance of wealth or prosperity. The word for bat is "fu" and the word for happiness is also pronounced "fu. Two bats convey best wishes and good fortune.

Our sculpture was acquired in the 1960s at a government store in Beijing, China.

The sculpture weighs 3 pounds 5.5 ounces and measures 6 1/4' in height, 9 1/2" in width and 3" in depth.

The sculpture is presented with its custom hand carved wooden base and is in very good vintage condition with no breaks or repairs.
