You are bidding on a 2-1/4 yard piece of vintage 26" wide handwoven silk and cotton ikat brocade Laotian hill tribe fabric. The fabric was intended to be made into a sarong.

NOTE: One of the red bands is flawed. Due to a dyeing error, an 18" x 7" area of the red band is darkened. The band is in the middle of the 2-1/4" yard piece. See third photo.

25 years ago we found this fantastic design in a fabric store in Khon Kaen in Northeast Thailand (Isan). We have been buying fabrics in Thailand for years and this is the only fabric of this type we ever come across.

It's woven horizontally and features a wide stripe of dark red ikat with black, white, and yellow delights and a wide stripe of natural indigo ikat with white details. Between those areas are thin bands of black, white, and yellow interspersed with bands of silk brocade birds in green, white, yellow, red, and gold.

This would make beautiful pillow covers, purses, other small accessories, the front of a vest, etc. or be great for a quilting or art-to-wear projects.
