About ASP Ultra Cuffs

ASP's exclusive Ultra Cuffs represent the most significant advances in handcuff design in over 100 years. These handcuffs have been developed, tested, revised, re-tested and perfected in the field with the help of police officers and tactical trainers from around the world. The result is a handcuff system of materials, construction and functionality not found in any other handcuff.


Forged aluminum frame: Constructed from 7075 T6 armor-grade aluminum, the Ultra Cuff frames are rigid and incredibly strong while being lightweight. Forging avoids the rough and sharp edges found on other stamped steel handcuffs. The smooth, rounded Ultra Cuff frame is more ergonomic and safer for both the user and the cuffed.

Tapered Flat Handcuff Strap: The geometry of the shackle allows the handcuff to fit a wide variety of wrists, and the flat contact zone improves application speed and accuracy. The temples are also strongly rounded to prevent injuries. Ultra cuffs are available with both steel and aluminum shackles, only Identifier Ultra cuffs (with colored stripe in frame) are only available with steel shackles.

Double-sided, single-turn keyholes: All Ultra Cuffs handcuffs have keyholes and double-lock windows on both sides of the frame, each of which can be operated in the same direction. The status of the lock can be recognized immediately based on the color code in the double lock window. All these features help to make the handcuff application, adjustment, double-locking and removal quicker and easier.

Interchangeable lock sets: The lock sets are uniform and interchangeable. This makes it possible to repair a handcuff on site without great effort and also to exchange the lock sets depending on the security requirement. The construction of the lock and the placement within the frame makes the lock less prone to shimming. The following locks are available:
- 1 Pawl (yellow lock unit with a lock latch, to be opened with a standard key)
- 2 Pawl (blue lock unit with 2 lock latches - Attention! These handcuffs cannot be opened with a standard key, they require a special key)
- 3 Pawl (green lock unit with 3 lock latches, can be opened with a standard key)

Colored identifier strips: Officials and authorities can immediately and unequivocally distinguish the handcuffs with this permanent, structural marking. Some officers also use the colored marker to distinguish between suspects in notes and reports.
