Pair of PORCELIER 3-Bulb Porcelain Ceiling Lights: Art Deco & MCM era, Restored
This pair of 3-bulb, flush mount porcelain fixtures were removed from a house in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and have been in storage for the last 16-17 years. The fixtures were manufactured by Porcelier sometime between the late 1920's and the early 1950's, the lifetime of the company, and they are appropriate for both art deco and mid-century modern design. The shape of the fixtures is unusual with their upturned sides, giving them the general shape of either a fedora or a pork pie hat. We have restored hundreds of Porcelier ceiling fixtures, and this is the only pair like this we have seen.
The fixtures have floral displays of blue, orange, green, and brown accents on a cream colored (off-white) background. They are in good condition. The little ding at the peak of one fixture is original to the piece, i.e., it is a flaw, not damage. There is a chip around the hole where the bulb sockets attach, but is hidden by the porcelain nuts that hold the bulb sockets in place and does not detract from their appearance. We have removed all of the ceiling paint and dirt from the sides and back.
The fixtures have the original, signed porcelain and brass bulb sockets which take standard base bulbs (bulbs not included). The fixtures have been tested and they work correctly. The sale includes the correct mounting hardware (antique brass mounting nuts, threaded nipples, & crossbars).
Each fixture measures 9-1/2" in diameter and is 4" high (not including mounting nut).
