How do I know if my module is faulty....?
Having problems with your central locking not unlocking one or more doors?
This may be a faulty door lock actuator assembly, or else one or more relays in the GM5 module are faulty.
If the fuel filler door also doesn't unlock, and/or the problem is worse in hot or cold weather, then almost certainly your GM5 is at fault.
The problem will be intermittent at first, usually with unlocking rather than locking, and getting worse in hot weather, before finally failing completely.
Can I still use my car without the GM5 module fitted....?
Do I have to get my car reprogrammed...?
If we find that your old relays are OK, then clearly your problem lies elsewhere in the module, or in the vehicle itself.
In this case, we class it as unrepaired, and will return the module to you and give you a 50% refund.
If No Fault Found following full functional testing, we will refund you 25%.
If No Fault Found but we don't have a full functional test, we will refund you, less £5 if you want it returned.
If we are unable to repair, we will refund you, less £5 if you want it returned.
What you need to do
Remove module from your vehicle.
(Behind the glove box in E46, E83, X3 and Z4, and next to the CD changer in the Z8)
Pack your faulty module in a stout cardboard box or a jiffy bag.
(don't remove the pcb from its plastic case)
Send, enclosing a note stating:
